News from the BAA Chairperson:
Dear Billings Art Assn. Members,
Flash: The BAA Steering Committee has sanctioned the
Audubon/Billings Arts Association Montana State Juried
Exhibition. Prospectus to come show dates May 15th -
June 7th so get on the bird paintings Show will be
called Birds, About Montana. More details to come: Sign
up sheet, time line etc.
Ladies and Gentlemen of BAA, Greetings, again I
apologize for the lateness of the BAA newsletter.
We are involved with organizing some really fun
endeavors and in doing so we are awaiting info from
those whom we are dove-tailing with… For instance we are
presented with a great opportunity to dove-tail with the
Audubon Society of Montana in a State wide juried
exhibition at the location of Audubon's Bird Watcher Art
Fair or Bird Fair, Rocky Mountain College (RMC); that
rotates from city to city within Montana each year.
This year it's the 6th, 7th and 8th of June.
We only have a couple of wrinkles to iron out and one of
them is having enough BAA volunteers to join in on this
grand and exhilarating project. This would entail a
theme of Montana Birds and I sense that this could be a
traditional type Exhibition, as Art Assn's in cities
where the fair rotates too could keep the ball rolling.
The ball would certainly add to the quantity of viewers
for both bird and art lovers while contributing to the
knowledge and esthetics of each. Not to mention
visibility and prestige. This would entail a theme of
Montana Birds
I'm putting the prospectus together as we speak. We'll
need ppl to assist in production, administration, jury,
put up/ take down and return of product etc.
Another project that has found our BAA door is a group
of high school students who want to make murals in
Billings. I'm still working on the Juried exhibition
opportunities with the Moss Mansion ppl and the MT state
insurance on this project.
Last month we adopted our first BAA Budget based on the
past 10 years of BAA bookkeeping analysis. It's more
than a club now, we have earned the right as a non
profit organization to create grants and further the
insight into the arts and humanities of Montana. It was
a big step and now it's incumbent on us to see to it
that the status of being a 501C3 is lived up to.
We are seeking 2 - 3 more active board members to help
take the reins of this Billings Arts Association on the
move
