ART EXHIBIT RULES

1.  All work submitted must be original and created within the last two years.

2.  Work done in a workshop or class is not acceptable.

If you look online, these are the rules that accompany most art exhibits.  BAA members should be aware that workshop and class paintings are not appropriate for any exhibit including the fair.  You may use the techniques you learned but the subject matter must be different.  Please keep this in mind when entering a juried OR judged exhibit.

2009 Images Art Grant Recipient Reports:

Wishes Granted….6th Grade Art Students are Inspired to Create!

Last year a student came to me after he had come back from another state carrying an art project he had done while in that faraway art class.  My eyes got very large and I could not praise him enough for the incredible work on the 3-D painted and designed piece.  After much inquiry he explained the process as much as he could remember. Sculpture of any kind is an endeavor with as many students (185 sixth graders) as the elementary art specialists have and I knew this would be daunting. I submitted a grant to the BILLINGS ARTS ASSOCIATION that mainly stated that we needed a lot of help (this was in capital letters).  I also stated that in addition to materials we would need blocks of wood sawed---on and on. Not only did the BAA purchase the materials for all sixth grades at the three schools I serve, they also cut the wood and did all the shopping.  Additionally, they are providing helpers to be in the classroom to insure student success.  This project absolutely could not happen without this grant and the time spent preparing the materials.  The benefit to our sixth grade students is monumental. The BAA’s objective is “sharing our creativity and inspiration”.  It will be because of the BAA that our students will be inspired to create in a new medium.  Many, many thanks to the BAA for funding this project and taking the time to prepare all the necessary materials and see the project through. Stay tuned for project details and showtimes at the Sandstone Gallery.  Our gratitude “overfloweth”. Suzie Clendenin-Art Specialist
