ABOUT THE AWARD
Billings Arts Association
awards are designed to expand art opportunities for teachers employed in
public school classrooms by School District 2 and for students
attending public school classrooms K through 12. These grants will be
on a one time only basis and will include only the visual arts. Typical
awards will range from $50 to $250 depending on availability of
resources and the number of awards granted.
When to Apply:
Grants will be awarded
annually. The deadline for applications is June 30, 2008.
Grant amounts:
Grant amounts will range
according to the scope of projects, availability of resources and number
of awards granted.
Eligible applicants:
Applicants must be
employed by School District 2 and must be directly involved in art
education. Secondary teachers must teach a minimum of 2 art classes per
day. Elementary teachers must teach art in their classrooms at least
one period per week.

information along with administrative signature of agreement.

Grant review procedure:
Applicants should submit
an original and 2 photocopies of their proposal.
Applications will be
reviewed by a 3 person panel of BAA members. The panel will score each
application and send recommendations to the Leadership committee for
final approval. Applicants will be notified of acceptance by August 1,
2008. Non-recipients will be notified by August 1, 2008. All
recipients must allow publicity and press releases and have
administrative agreement.
Selection Criteria
Preference will be given
to proposals that include the following criteria:
. Integration of proposed
project with school curriculum
. Integration of proposed
project with the community
. Number of students
impacted
. Educational value to
students
Sample items grant may
include:
. consumable supplies and
materials (paint, paper, film, stencils, clay)
. equipment (brushes,
chisels, easels, leather tools)
. matting & framing
. printing
Sample items that will
not be paid:

. overhead expenses
. teacher training
. T shirts
. food
